LoRa node with antenna and solar panel on a mast above a valley at night

Radio networks without mobile network. Meshtastic & MeshCore.

LoRa mesh networks transmit text messages, positions and sensor data over many kilometres – without a SIM card, without internet and licence-free in the 868 MHz band. We build nodes, solar repeaters and gateways and turn them into a network that works reliably.

What is LoRa mesh

Every node passes the message on.

Small, low-power radio modules form a network: if a message cannot reach its destination directly, it hops via other nodes. A well-placed repeater on a hill connects entire valleys.

Long range

LoRa is optimised for low data rates and long range. With line of sight, links of many kilometres between two nodes are possible.

Very low power

Nodes run off-grid for months on a small battery and solar panel – ideal for masts, cabins and remote locations.

Independent & encrypted

No dependence on mobile networks or internet. Private channels are encrypted – also useful as emergency communication during power outages.

Comparison

Meshtastic or MeshCore?

Both systems use the same hardware family but follow different concepts. We advise which one suits your use – or run both side by side.

Meshtastic

The large, widely used community solution.

  • Managed flooding: messages are passed from node to node, by default up to 3 hops, maximum 7
  • Every node can relay – quick to set up, ideal for groups and events
  • MQTT gateway for connecting to servers, dashboards and home automation
  • Telemetry & position: sensors, GPS trackers and weather stations

MeshCore

Structured networks with fixed roles – growing strongly in Austria.

  • Fixed roles: Companion (end device), Repeater and Room Server
  • Learned paths instead of flooding – less airtime in large networks
  • Up to 64 hops – suitable for regional backbones across many repeaters
  • Room servers store messages for groups, even if participants were offline
From us

Our solutions.

From individual devices to a regional network – planned, built and configured.

Nodes & end devices

Fully configured handhelds and nodes for pairing with a smartphone – in a rugged housing, with matching antenna and battery.

Solar repeaters

Weatherproof repeaters with solar panel and battery for mast, roof or hunting stand – including site selection and antenna alignment.

Gateways & MQTT

Bridge between radio and IP network: gateways with MQTT connection, forwarding to servers, Home Assistant or your own dashboards.

Telemetry

Temperature, fill level, battery voltage or door contact from remote locations – where no mobile network is available.

Network planning

Radio planning with terrain profile, channel and role concept, encryption and documentation – for clubs, municipalities and businesses.

Emergency communication

Independent communication for blackout preparedness, fire brigade exercises, events or mountain regions.

Legal framework

Licence-free, but with rules.

In Europe, Meshtastic and MeshCore operate in the 868 MHz band. No radio licence is required, but transmit power and airtime are limited. We configure every device in compliance with the standards.

  • Region EU_868: 869.4–869.65 MHz for Meshtastic
  • 10 % duty cycle and up to 27 dBm transmit power in this sub-band
  • Correct region and antenna – only correctly configured devices may transmit

Combined with security technology

Where an Ajax system has no mobile network, a LoRa mesh can carry states such as "door open" or "battery low" over kilometres to a location with internet.

Off-grid monitoring
Use cases

Where mesh networks excel.

  • Alpine pastures, hunting grounds, fishing waters without network coverage
  • Large events, when the mobile network is overloaded
  • Municipalities & clubs as part of blackout preparedness
  • Agriculture – sensor values from remote fields and barns
