Closed gun cabinet with an opening detector on the door

Your gun cabinet reports in. Always.

See immediately when the cabinet or safe is opened, tilted or drilled – even when the alarm system is disarmed. You also know whether someone is in the house and which room they are moving in.

Three questions, one answer

Open? Who is there? Where?

The combination of an opening detector on the cabinet, motion detectors in the rooms and a complete event log answers all three questions – in real time on your smartphone.

Always see when it is opened

An opening detector on the cabinet door runs in "Always active" mode: every opening is reported, regardless of whether the house is armed.

Know whether someone is in the house

Motion detectors in hallways and rooms detect presence. When the system is armed, this triggers an alarm – with photo detectors, optionally including image confirmation.

See where someone is moving

Each detector is assigned to a room. The event log shows which detector was triggered and when – so the route through the house can be traced.

On the cabinet

One detector, three sensors.

The Ajax DoorProtect Plus is mounted on the safe door and detects more than just opening.

  • Opening: reed contact with magnet, gap up to 1 or 2 cm
  • Shock: accelerometer with three sensitivity levels – e.g. for drilling or prying attempts
  • Tilt: alarm at a tilt angle of 5–25° if someone tries to move or carry off the cabinet
  • Up to 5 years battery, up to 1,200 m radio range, encrypted transmission

Scenarios

Made for everyday life.

Family at home, cabinet in the basement

The house is disarmed during the day, the cabinet detector stays active. If someone opens the cabinet, you get a push notification immediately – even when you are away.

Holiday or business trip

System armed, all detectors active. Movement in the house triggers an alarm, the siren sounds, and you see which room someone is in.

Who opened it?

Personal codes, key fobs or tags per user: the log shows who disarmed the system before the cabinet was opened.

Duress situation

A duress code on the keypad appears to disarm normally but triggers a silent alarm to designated people in the background.

Legal framework

Complements safe storage – does not replace it.

Firearms and ammunition must be stored securely, i.e. reasonably protected against unauthorised access. Since 28 April 2026 this obligation is set out in Section 15 of the Austrian Weapons Act (WaffG); the former Section 16b was repealed by Federal Law Gazette I No. 56/2025 .

According to oesterreich.gv.at , containers must be secure against break-in and forced opening, and weapons must also be protected from household members who are not authorised to use them. The storage of category B weapons is generally inspected every five years.

An alarm system does not turn an unsuitable cabinet into a secure one. But it adds to a suitable gun cabinet what a lock cannot: you see that and when it was opened – and who was in the house at that moment.

This information is general in nature and not legal advice. Please clarify individual storage questions with your firearms authority.

Know what happens at your gun cabinet.

We advise you discreetly, plan the detectors to suit the cabinet and house, and set up the notifications.
